NIS 2011 - Can't re-enable Anti-spam Outlook Plug-In

I disabled the Norton Anti-spam Outlook Plug-In using the Outlook 2007 Trust Center option while investigating a serious slow down problem reading email after upgrading to NIS 2011.  I am running Win 7 64 bit.

I can't seem to re-enable the Anti-spam Plug-in either through the Outlook Trust Center options or through the NIS 2011 control panel. I ran the NIS removal tool and did a clean re-install of NIS 2011. That did no help.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem and re-enable the NIS Outlook Anti-Spam add-in?

I really wanted the extra anti-spam tool bar buttons on the Outlook Junk folder.

Yes,the problem was caused by the default NIS 2011 Anti-spam add-in.

I want to try turning on NIS antispam and then turning off some of its options.

PapauZ,

Thanks very much for the suggestions.

Solution 1 failed.

I really expected solution 2 to work. It seemed like a really completer removal & re-install of NIS 2011.

Solution 2 failed also. I was really surprised. I did the uninstall and selected the "remove everything" option.

Outlook seemed to have forgotten the Norton Spam add-in.

I ran the Norton Removal Tool 3 times and rebooted each time.

I re-installed. The first thing I noticed was that it remembered my registration code. That means that it did not remove everything from the registry.

I opened Outlook. No anti-spam tool bar options. I checked add-ins. The Norton Anti-Spam was there but disabled.

I did find an "outlook" solution.

I went into safe mode. (Probably not necessary.)

I did tools --> trust center --> add-ins.

I previously had done Manage --(com add-ins) and tried to seled Norton Anti-Spam. That never worked.

This time I did Manage -- (disabled items) and was able to re-enable the Norton Anti-Spam add-in.

When I re-started Outlook, the Norton Anti-Spam tool bar re-appeared.

The bad news was that everything was back to "normal". See the link I posted in my original question.

The problem is that with NIS 2011 and the Anti-spam add-in running, Outlook is very slow opening emails. Painfully slow.

I am going to try to change some of the NIS spam options and see if that resolves the problem.

NIS 2010 was acceptably fast opening email.

Apparently NIS 2011 re-scans the email before opening it. This is not necessary since it scanned the email during download. It doesn't have to do it again.
