NIS 2011 CONFLICTS WITH INTERNET ACCESS

Since installing NIS 2011, I have not had consistant access to my broadband cable IP nor to my Outlook Express.  In addition, I was not able to fully install manual Live Updates.  I have had 4-5 techs working on this.  The Live Update download problem was resolved when I requested an upper level tech. By the way, I do not allow downloading of Live Update to run in the background, but download it manually at the end of each computer session.

However, I still am not able to access my IP internet or email.  Today, a very well-meaning tech uninstalled Norton and we then checked my internet access----it was smooth and uninterrupted and I could access it without restarting my computer! She then attempted to re-install Norton, but towards the end the connection was interrupted.  Most of Norton remains installed--- I again cannot access my internet without restarting the computer.  I had a tech from my IP come and change the modem on the computer, just to be on the safe side. Very apparently, the Norton server is very slow and times out, or running from the Norton server conflicts with my IP---an internet provider has to locate the modem on the computer (mine is a desk-top and does not need a wireless router) and probably the pinging by the IP is deflected by Norton.

Today, I again was in touch with their techs---the last one scarcely knew anything about the Norton program.  And access to a knowledgeable tech was denied----she wanted to make a call back at 1:30 AM my time because they are located across the Pacific. (No idea of customer's needs across the ocean.)

I now am so disillusioned by the lack of skill (with the exception of the upper management tech) and being left hanging on the phone for hours-----and by the inability to resolve what is, not only a frustrating problem, but a situation which leaves me unable to function at a necessary activity.
