Last night I upgraded to NIS 2011 from 2010. Prior to the upgrade my vpn - the witopia open vpn - was working just fine. But after the upgrade it would die within seconds of connecting. For example, the vpn connects, I go to gmail, the login page loads, and then the connection dies. This has never happened before.
I took a look at some of the previous posts about VPN issues with norton, and following that advice, I went to NIS's program control and changed the "auto" setting for my vpn's exe to "allow." Then rebooted. But it made no difference. The connection is still dropping.
I'm somewhat technically inclined but not deeply, so I hope that any solutions can be given in somewhat simple terms. Also, please keep in mind that I'm in china and that my vpn is absolutely essential for my security here. Thanks.
