I'm a bit of a newbie, so bear with me.
I'm currently running NIS 2011 on an XP SP3 system. I have started experiencing full system crashes / freezes when running full system scans since the 14th of February 2011 (after I had downloaded the available updates).
I have since removed NIS using the Norton Removal Tool and reinstalled the clean version (18.1.0.37). This version (without any updates) completes a full scan with no problem and doesn't show any threats. Once updates have been downloaded and the machine restarted, the full scan crashes at seemingly random points (approx 137,000 / 165,000 and 425,000 items in the last three attempts).
I've ran Ad-aware and Spybot separately and they haven't picked up any problems with the system. A full scan by the clean NIS program also shows no risks or hazards. I can only assume that this is a repeat of an update problem that was listed in the forums at the start of January this year.
Can anyone assist?
