NIS 2011 Installation problem

I have just purchased NIS 2011 (3 USER ) from ARGOS to replace a recently expired Norton 360. When I tryed to install NIS it first said it would remove the previous version of norton, when it hade done this it required a reboot. After the reboot I get an error message saying the process is unable to continue because the cd has been removed or disconnected.

The same thing happened on my second computer, In MY COMPUTER on one machine the cd/dvd drive can be seen but not accessed and on the other has vanished altogether. both machines run windows xp.

Hi Michaelhl,

This issue is known to happen occasionally when uninstalling Norton 360. Please see the following Symantec article which will direct you to a Micorsoft Fix-it Tool that should solve the problem for you:

Cannot access CD/DVD after I install or uninstall Norton 360

You may still wish to run the NRT to completely remove Norton 360 as installing NIS over the top can sometimes be problematic.

Problem solved, followed you suggestions and once I got the cd drive back it was a smooth installation. Many thanks
