NIS 2011 intrusion prevention is off and cannot be turn back on

Hi guys,

 

I'm having a problem that somehow my intrusion prevention is off and i can't turn it back on :(

 

i have red x on the norton symbol at the bottom right

 

just found out today and it's annoying me very much, i don't feel safe.

 

all is updated and no update found

 

i'm on windows xp sp3

it seems to fix the problem

 

but what i don't understand is why do we need to remove it then re-install just to fix a problem? pardon my knowledge is very low

 

will mark it as resolved if the problem do not reoccur in the next few days
