NIS 2011 Live Update Process Update Failure

Having D/L'd the NIS2011 update about ten days ago, whenever I run LiveUpdate - which varies in size from 80mb - 90mb - the process takes some time in each case but fails at the last hurdle: Process Updates Not Complete.

Having some time to spare I thought I'd get into it with Norton and did a livechat support session for about three hours 2 days ago, during which the advisor did a re-install of NIS2011 - deleted (with my permission) Adware which looked like it may conflict. At the point of processing the LiveUpdate definitions again, the advisor assured me that all would run well...(my connection was making the updates slow in any case)....and so I ended the session assuming all would be well. Sadly not. Same problem: Process Updates Not Complete.

I sent an email to  describing the case and got a response to my mobile phone later the next day and the advisor promised to call back when I was at my PC.

Given that the previous nights exploits took three hours, I logged back into the LiveChat session and spoke with another advisor who again went through the details and attempted to help again using another 'patch' - can't recall the name - and another re-install. When this failed to fix the issue and the Process Updates Not Complete message again displayed (2 hours or so into the session), it was suggested that I needed to have a technician look at my PC locally to resolve this issue.

Tried subsequently to do a couple of System Restores (XP SP11 + all latest updates) which wasn't successful in resolving.

Any suggestions would be helpful - other than suggesting I "have someone look at my PC locally".........?

What are the DNS settings I see mentioned earlier in this thread, and could they be the culprit?

My point is that NIS2010  worked seamlessly  previously - if a new product is creating conflicts - is that my fault? My updates show some 102 days ago on this fresh install.

Hope someone can help.

Steve
