I recently upgraded to NIS 2011, from NIS 2010. With 2011 I cannot run "live update". Message is " Cannot connect to network proxy server. Please check your Norton Proxy settings."
Under Misc. setting I found proxy settings. It was set for "automatically detect setting" This made no difference, so I unchecked it, but don't know what to do after that, with all the boxes.
Can someone walk this struggling, non computer using guy through this?
What version of NIS 2011 do you have? You can find this from Support > About? Also what OS and SP (service pack) do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?
How did you do the upgrade from NIS 2010 to 2011? Did you install over the top of uninstall 2010 first or what?
Do you have any other security software installed on your computer besides NIS?
Do you know if you need a Proxy server configured? (this is pretty unusual to need this)
I assume you are able to browse on the Internet with IE, correct? Let's check the Proxy settings in IE to compare. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab and then LAN Settings.
Is "Automatically detect settings" checked or is there other things configured here?
