I just had a confusing set of problems and I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this.
Tonight I noticed on both my computers Task Scheduler had these two error messages "The selected task "{0}" no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click refresh" and "Reading Data Failed." Both computers are Windows 7 Home Premium; my desktop is 32bit and ethernet connected, the netbook is 64bit and wireless connected. I have the latest version of NIS 2011 on both and did not use any non-OEM programs like registry or system cleaners.
After a Google search I fixed the scheduler problem by deleting some registry keys on both computers. The desktop works fine. The netbook, though, crashed LiveUpdate and then I lost wireless. I have been having some wireless problems lately, but for the first time I lost my connection after it was already established.
I've gotten everything back working now, but I'm suspicious about Norton's involvement for a couple of reasons. Online forums suggest a similar Task Scheduler problem is caused by firewall conflicts and something about RPC calls (which I know nothing about). NIS is also the common denominator between my two computers.
This may be a long shot, and only coincidence, but in case anyone else see these problems it will confirm my suspicions.
