The upgrade form says copy of CD or manual title page. There is no manual. In the past I’ve always sent the manual title page but I don’t think the last version had a manual so I need to go the CD route this time. A copy of the CD means that a photocopy of the CD is proof right? Somewhere on here I saw something that seemed to indicate they wanted the original CD, but that would require a special envelope unless you broke the thing in half. Thanks, BGC

I did the online chat with customer service and now know less. I’d like confirmation from someone that actually sent in a photocopy of the CD as proof and got the rebate. Thanks, BGC
Since they ask for the CD of the version you are upgrading from I just send in the old CD in an envelope that fits .....
I would still like to know the answer to this, but I dug through a drawer and found some old Norton manuals. So I’m good for 3 upgrades using the title pages of those manuals. BGC
Probably tomorrow with the weekend out of the way ....
I can confirm that I sent in a copy of the CD (I have for the last 3 years) and have since received my rebate.
I've been trying to find a website with a rebate claim form on -- I used to be able to download them for a product on the Staples website and I seem to remember they included what to do if your previous version was installed when you bought the PC -- you gave them details of the serial and SKU numbers from the About frame under Help/Support.
I thought they also covered what to do if your previous version was a downloaded one ..... it would seem logical to give the same information as for a preinstalled version.
Hi Hugh,
The Symantec Rebate Center FAQs seem to cover all of the possibilities:

SoJ,
I checked that before posting and was dubious about it's completeness since I have definitely seen instructions on an Upgrade Rebate Form on how to deal with a preinstalled copy.
It is of course possible that they have changed.
As I recall, with OEM copies you used to have to print a screenshot of the window that showed all the product information and send it in with the paperwork. From the Rebate Center FAQs it looks like OEM no longer qualifies for rebates.
If the FAQs are correct, that is <g>
That's why I flagged for someone from Norton to help ....
bgc99,
"Copy of CD" means a photocopy.
You could consult the FAQ that SendOfJive posted for further Rebate questions, or consult your rebate form. There are so many types of rebates and requirements out there, that it would be best to include which specific rebate you are using, with all the terms of the rebate posted if you are unable to get information from the rebate form.
Thanks, TIm
