I'm just wondering who here has upgraded to NIS 2011. I'm just about ready to take the plunge and download it myself. I was just wondering what you think of it so far.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 and NIS 2010 so I'm sure the upgrade will be rather uneventful. Also, how quick is the boot time with NIS 2011. I remember the boot time with NIS 2009 was really quick while NIS 2010 was somewhat slower.
Which System Works do you have? If you have the Standard or the Premier versions, it would also include NAV 2009 or earlier. Therefore there would be a conflict of NAV parts. I don't know if you can install just the Utilities part of System Works without the NAV that goes along with it. The key for System Works might have to be entered in the NAV 2009 part which you can't install.
I've been using NIS 2011 for only 2 hours at this point, but I'm VERY HAPPY with it so far. When I'm navigating the 2011 screens, the response seems faster than 2010. I use Identity Safe and that seems much quicker. I'm curious to see if scanning time is faster. I'll have to try a full scan and see.
It is much easier, faster updated than last year. I am very happy that the Hungarian language, the program is completed. Very good, great job! Thanks, Symantec employees!
NAV 2011 had me remove Systemworks to allow NAV2011.
I showed Systemworks 12 as 'activated'. before.
I had upgraded NAV to 2010 - as Systemworks did seperate installs for NAV and 'Systemworks', it was possible to treat NAV as a standalone.
There seemed to be a choice to keep a few of the Utilities in Systemworks - but I could not get the 2011 to install until I took out all of Systemworks.. may be a glitch or I hit some wrong buttons.
You may be right - that I may not be able to activate Systemworks if I reinstall.
Great product indeed! I too dislike the 'square' taskbar icon, and was hoping for more background colors to choose from for the main GUI (change it from default to rays, looks better).
See, I have to nitpick at the small things..

Think it's a great product, however, I three agree with both of you.
Think the "Norton" and the Norton Safe Web icon in the Norton Tool Bar is a bit small, and would think it would look better if they were bigger. Also think the Norton AntiVirus Definitions, i.e. the Full ones, should be listed in the Norton Security History; would like to see this.
A few other things I'd like to see:
- more details being provided on the "Firewall configuration updated" rather than just the number of Rules being Updated in total.
The 2011 version is awesome! Did we expect anything less?
RE: the taskbar icon... yeah I didn't like it (like a lot of people) when I first saw it in beta, but I got used to it, and, honestly, after reverting back to 2010 for a few days I've decided that I actually prefer it now. But I'm strange like that.
Congrats again to the Norton team for a great product! I wish you much success with it.
I actually prefer the icon, but prefered 2010 interface lol. you can't please all the people all the time! I think they have got the balance between lean program and features/ eye candy about right though. I have tried many alternatives and this program has zero impact on my pc.
The first attempt to install failed. After downloading, the installer said the installation cannot continue. Not sure why but I rebooted my PC and tried again and it worked perfectly.
I personally don't mind the interface or the taskbar icon. All I care about is the functionality of the program rather than cosmetics.
One quick question though, how do you adjust the date and time zone on the UI. Right now the date says 08/30/10.
A big congrats to everyone involved for this release.

Are you referring to the time shown when you click the green text next to Run LiveUpdate, or the time shown on the Activity Map?
If it's the former then floplot has given you the answer. If it's the latter, then that is the data from the Symantec servers showing world-wide virus activity and it will always be +/- a day or so behind since the data isn't updated in real-time.
