I have Norton products since 1996 and I never seen this. Five days ago an update msg came up asking me if I wanted to update my NIS 2010 to the 2011 version and I accepted, the pc rebooted and I got the new 2011 version running and felt it got better EXCEPT I can leave my pc unnatended for a few hours, because if I do my pc will become unusable, firefox becomes unusable (I cant change tabs, cant left or right click, can’t close it, etc.), I cant get into NIS settings, can’t right click on anything using windows explorer and on taskmanager it appears my cpu is being used since it shows at 24% of its cappacity but it doesnt show which process is using it. The only way I can fix it is by doing a hard reset and this is corrupting my files and windows itself. I already had to do this 5 times this week, whenever the pc is idle it happens and Norton was the only thing that was updated or installed during this time. I already unninstalled it, rebooted, ran NTR, rebooted and reinstalled it with several options turned off to see if it will help (it didn’t help yesterday). How can I solve this issue without getting rid of NIS 2011 or going back to NIS 2010 (which I had for 11 months by the way)? I’m running windows ultimate x64, 4 gb ram, 4 hdds (winx xp on c: and 7 on e:), atlhon phenom cpu and already ran scandisk on my hdds.
