I believe the error may be the similar to this one:
Norton Internet Security
19.1.1.3
Errors: 0, 0
Microsoft Windows XP
2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647
Results of Norton AutoFix: 1 element(s)

This was reported in the following thread in addition to showing up in several other threads. The error may be a result of the Firefox 7 compatibility patch. I have gotten the error on my XP machine too.

Yeah there is a problem with the Firefox 7 patch. I was told the devs that handle Firefox are looking into it now. Most likely the patch will be pulled until it is fixed.
I'm thinking about going back to NIS 2011.......Thanks......Gorpy1 P.S I did get 30 extra days from Symnatec I thought was very nice of them........Gorpy1
Thanks Michael I'm sure I'll just stick it out with NIS 2012 It's still an excellent product with just a glitch or two, Who doesn't have them Thanks..............Gorpy1

Although I get the unfixable error when running the AutoFix Tool, the Firefox 7 toolbar is working, Norton seems to be working, and I can't find any adverse effects. Any problems with leaving everything alone at this point, rather than reinstalling? What is Norton recommending for those seeing this error?
EDIT - Tony Weiss has now posted information on this, and the advice is to do nothing, since the reported installation failure is erroneous:
