NIS 2012 doesn't scan my RAID drives

I have a Win 7 Pro 64 bit system (SP1 and all latest updates) running on an AMD 890FX chipset MoBo with AMD 1090 processor and 8GB (2x4GB) RAM

Boot/system drive C is a 120GB SSHD and drives D & E are partitions on a RAID 5 array of 4x2TB disks, thus approx 5.5TB usable split approx D=1.9TB, E=3.54TB.  RAID is the AMD software RAID with all drives connected to the 890FX chipset and running SATA 3.  RAID software reports the array is good and no errors reported after a full scan - taking nearly 3 days!

Virus scan of drive C seems to work fine.  Any attempt to virus scan drives D or E scans only one item on each drive.

Similarly, Norton Utilities 15 fails to see drives D & E for any defragmentation.

System is fully functional with all usual activities and Win 7 can see drives C/D/E and both DVD drives.  Win 7 can also defrag D & E without problem.

How can I get NIS 2012 to scan (and NU15 to defrag) my RAID drives?
