I have 3 user NIS 2012. Working perfectly on first two PC's but stopped working and stopped live updating on my Toshiba Tecra A10 laptop (loaded with Windows 7 Professional). Have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times, but still can't get to work and have the followed the recommended solutions:-
1. Have tried reinstalling via original disc and also via Norton Account "download" - with both routes it goes through the whole download process and then software hangs on the installation confirmation window (the only exit from this window is to "Explore NIS" but the window hangs when you click on "explore". The Norton Account still shows as 1 more download still available as though not registering that NIS 2012 has been downloaded to the PC.
2. When try "autofix" a liveupdate failure is listed as the problem. When use the "Autofix / Autorepair" option a Error code "8506,421" is listed which suggests the Norton Removal Tool and the re-installation.
3. Exactly the same problem arises after re-installation.
4. Have tried to complete a manual liveupdate, but fails as system states no Norton product is available to update.
I tried to resolve this before Xmas 2012, finally gave up and downloaded Avast Free antivirus which hasn't given any problems but doesn't provide the same comprehensive protection as NIS 2012.
I have spent another six hours attempting to successfully reload NIS 2012 today with no success. I have registered on Norton Community for the first time today in the hope that somebody out there can help me solve this.
