NIS 2012: Firewall > Program Control Very Slow

I upgraded to latest NIS version, should be 2013. I noticed that under Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Program Control (Configure). When I add a new program to it, it takes very long to process the popup to choose whether to block or allow. It almost seems that NIS hanged and is not responding (Windows has a not responding popup too). I just waited and it eventually allowed me to choose the option.

I had NIS 2012 like a week ago and this wasn't the issue. I would choose a program and it would pop up rather fast. Any knows if this is a bug or just my case when I upgraded to NIS 2013. FYI, I did not uninstall my NIS 2012. I just downloaded and installed the latest version and let the installer do its thing.

If the solution is to do a fresh install, does anyone knows how to backup my settings including Firewall program control settings I currently have before I do a clean remove?

Specs:

i5 2500K

Windows 7 64-bit

8GB RAM

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi,
A reinstall might help the situation. The easiest way to accomplish that is to use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool

I'm told that this latest version will save your settings during the process. No promise and there isn't a good way to backup those settings either. Sorry.

I notice it seems to be much slower when my Internet is offline. I wonder if that slowdown has something to do with Norton scanning the file online to check with its online file database.

Hi,
NIS/NAV needs to be in almost constant contact with home [the Norton servers] in order to work well and provide you with the best possible protection.
