Greets! I've been tasked by a friend to look at her computer. It's an Dell Inspiron All-in-One Desktop. I did a factory reset using the Dell repair partition, so it's supposedly a clean install of Windows 7 Home.
She bought the NIS 2012 install CD with three licenses. When I run the setup from auto-run, the machine freezes right at the point where the NIS install screen says "Initializing" with the animated circle. It just freezes and goes no further.
I tried running the download version that I purchased, and it freezes at the same place as well. This, being ran from a TEMP folder on the machines local disk.
I uninstalled the pre-install McAfee and rebooted which still does not resolve the issue.
Has anyone else ran into a situation similar to this? I kind of ran out of time last night (I get up early) so tonight I'm going to try to install a different program on her machine. If it works, I'll go back and tackle it again. I was thinking of using MSConfig and boot using a somewhat limited system config.
Any other ideas would be greatly welcome. Thanks!
Scott
