I have just upgraded from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 on my Windows 64-bit computer running IE8.
Whilst I'm sure there are some improvements in NIS 2012, could I just mention what, to me, are a few "steps backwards" re Identity Safe:
1. I have configured NIS 2012 to prompt me when I'm not logged into ID Safe. To me, a "prompt" is a window that pops up automatically to bring to your attention that you have to do something. NIS 2012 just puts a narrow dark grey bar across the screen just below the list of tabs in the browser. Unless you happen to notice it, you can very easily miss it altogether. Why can't there be a proper pop-up window prompting the user to log in to ID Safe (or other options)? Also, what's the point of the "Don't login" and "Never" buttons - if I don't (ever) want to login, then I just won't!
2. If I wanted to manually log in to ID Safe in NIS 2011, I could just click the ID Safe icon on the Norton toolbar in my browser and it would immediately show the ID Safe login window. Now, with NIS 2012, clicking the ID Safe icon results in a drop-down list of just one item saying "Log in to Identity Safe", which I then have to click to open the login window (i.e. two clicks instead of one).
3. If I'm already logged into ID Safe, and I go to a website where I have previously set up and saved more than 1 login id (e.g. 3, say), once again the narrow dark grey bar appears with a "Fill Login (3)" button, which I have to click in order to see my 3 logins. In NIS 2011, whenever I went to such a website, NIS would automatically present me with a drop-down list (in a reasonably-sized pop-up window) showing all my logins for that web page.
So... a suggestion to Symantec - please make your prompts more visible (and conventional) by using "in your face" pop-up windows instead of the subtle narrow dark grey bar across the screen.
