I have to start by telling about my like of Norton products. I've used Norton products for years and I will likely continue to use Norton products in the coming years. At present I use NIS 2012 and Norton Utilities 15.
Recently I upgraded from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 and accidentally somehow started the performance optimizer. I was unable to cancel the optimize - it was stuck. I had the idle time optimize setting turned off since I use the Norton Untility's optimizer. The NIS 2012 had been stuck and that was frustrating me. I uninstalled NIS 2012 and reinstalled it. The optimizer is now off and has thus far not been turned on. I believe that there's a bug with the optimizer - It wouldn't stop and it was stuck in optimize for days.
As a result of whatever the bug, the NIS 2012 optimizer better not start on its own with idle time optimize setting turned off.
This is the first "real" problem that I've had with a Norton product. Yes! It was a real problem until I uninstalled and reinstalled NIS 2012.
