I upgraded to NIS 2012 in January and had to have a live chat with tech support for over 2 hours on Feb 2nd to resolve some problems I was having with the upgrade from NIS 2011. They were very courteous and I was hopeful that the reinstall solved my problems. It didn't solve all of the problems and my computer was behaving very erratic.
After getting error messages for error 8506, 422 and not being able to fix them I decided to remove NIS 2012 and replace it with my old NIS 2011. I spent 6 hrs trying to get rid of NIS 2012 via add/remove, Norton removal tool, remove/reinstall, etc.
I was finally able to reinstall NIS 2011 and now everything is back to normal and my Identity safe cards work again.
If you are having problems with NIS 2012 and are at the end of your rope, just reinstall NIS 2011 until Norton gets the bugs out. I am a Norton fan, but not their upgrades until they work!!
I am running Windows Vista and IE 9.
