Hi everyone,
On my Notebook with Intel Centrino2 dual core at 1,66 Ghz, 2gb Ram, Nvidia 7600go with 128 Mb dedicated, Vista SP1 32bit Italian version,
I installed NIS 19.1.0.28 Italian final version downloaded via Norton Update Center.
No other security softwares except Norton Online Family.
BUGS:
1) I open NIS event log, I maximize the window, then I open an entry for read details, when I close it, the NIS event log main window resize to previosus size (as before I maximized it).
2) During a scan, if I click “Suspend”, the little black bold text show me “interrupted”, but the big white/orange text show me “executing” I think that the text should be corrected and the orange substituted with grey color. (see picture) I try to explain better: when I suspend a scan I have both text: “executing” and “interrupted” at the same time. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/32/orangenis.jpg/
3) When in main window i select “?” menu and open “license agreement”, sometimes the window is opened behind NIS main window and not on top. Same behaviour happen when in Settings panel I “open the intusion definitions list”, the window is opened back the settings panel window.
Questionable things:
4) I install 19.1 over 18.6. Nis 2012 kept all my settings except one: in NIS 2011 “smart definitions” were disabled but after the installation “smart definitions” are ON. Is a bug or is it by design?
If is by design, I think that is better to set smart defitions off by default for maximize security
5) The help guide should be offline: if I want to modify a setting, I think that is better that associated help panel is showed even offline.
6) Also file insight data should be showed offline. And also “Evalutate applications” offline also because I may would view what processes or modules are running even when I am offline.
7) Why the “Check for new version” button is no more avaible? I think that should be showed in “?” menu in main window.
8) Double cliking on the top of a window like a scan doesn’t maximize the window.

After all NIS 2012 is amazing: more fast, better disposition of settings panel, more options for custom scan, better UI, firewall alert are showed more fast. I also appreciate the new install method: as a simple upgrade like from 18.1 to 18.6. So the reboot without protection as in past versions is skipped and the protection is always on.
I know that many people are experiencing many other bugs, but at the moment, my installation works fine except for the bugs that I noticed before. (No settings panel / firewall alert bug)
I think that a NIS 19.2 will solve all problem.
