I use a gadget to measure internet downloads and want to delay its startup until I have logged in to my wireless account.
I used the Startup Manager feature in NIS 2012 which is meant to delay selected startup items for 5 minutes. In Startup Manager I ticked the delay startup box for Windows Desktop Gadgets so as to delay the Windows Desktop Gadgets (sidebar.exe) file. This approach worked well when the next time I started my notebook sidebar.exe did not run for 5 minutes, giving me time to login to my wireless broadband, However after switching off and restarting again, I find that after the second reboot the windows 7 gadget bar starts immediately and the delay startup box is no longer 'ticked' in startup manager.
How do I get this setting (delayed start on Windows Desktop Gadgets) to stay on?
Thanks

In doing a search on Microsoft for delaying the startup of the sidebar, I found no information at all. There are settings, supposedly, under "Appearance and personalization" to prevent an automatic start, but I don't have that heading listed in my Win 7. It may be that Norton's delay is not sufficient to reliably stop Windows from loading something it thinks it should have.
That being the case then Norton should not maake it an ‘offering’ in the delay setting window.
