NIS 2012 status misreported by Windows 7 Action Center

Is there an issue with Action Center (Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP-1) incorrectly reporting the status of Norton Internet Security 2012 (19.6.1.18)?

 

Action Center reports NIS 2012 is switched off whilst NIS 2012 appears to be fine.

 

Windows 7 is up to date with service packs.

 

I have removed NIS using the Norton removal tool and reinstalled (several times). 

 

I have un-registered and re-registered WMIUTILS.DLL as suggested in a different post.

 

After a re-boot Action Centre says everything is O.K. initially but after a few minutes it states I am not running a firewall, I have no virus protection and I have no spyware / malware protection.

 

NIS however says everything is fine (green ticks), says I'm running the latest version and I have 270 days remaining on my subscription.

 

The problem started 2-3 days ago.

 

I have run out of ideas :smileysad: and would like to hear any suggestions
