I updated from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012 and much to my dismay, the “saving your settings” doesn’t really do that. Sure it saves your basic settings such as “on/off” for certain features but… *** It does not save custom program rules or general rules *** It took me a long, long time to set up custom rules for programs that I need to allow access to my LAN but not on the internet. I had well over 50 rules set up on three PCs (yes, a total of 150 rules) and all of them were removed during the upgrade. For the next product upgrade (NIS 2013 or whatever) would you please, please, please have the program remember custom rules so we don’t have to spend days redoing them? If for whatever reason a rule is incompatible just disable it and display a warning. At least the rule itself will be there and we can go back and fix the problematic ones. Very annoyed and disappointed.
