Just wondering if the policy that prevented me from downloading one of my three user installations in NIS 2011 will be in effect with the latest version.
After two installations using the CD, I was prevented from downloading the third onto my netbook (which had no optical drive), and I consulted Norton Support, where I found an explanation that said, in effect, that because I hadn't purchased the subscription from Symantec, there was no provision for downloads.
I called and spoke to a Symantec representative, who could offer no explanation for the policy, but she did at least provide assistance in completing the installation. But, then what's the point? Why does Symantec create such a roadblock for its customers? I would suggest that this is just another example of wrong-headed business practice which can only alienate and discourage prospective purchasers.
Imagine the frustration of discovering this after the purchase. Bad enough as the policy is, one should at least be made aware of it before the purchase, to allow alternative choices to be considered.
