NIS 2013 failing to open

Hi

I have been having the same problem on and off for over 3 months now. The problem being that NIS fails to open. There is just no response when trying various methods to run the application. Sometimes this problem stops for a week or so then starts again.

I initially tried the Norton clean removal tool and re-installed NIS 2013 myself. This seems to work at first but the problem started again.

Since then I have contacted the Support team twice and they have taken control of my PC to clean the registry and also run the clean removal tool and re-installed NIS 2013 both times. Again it helped at first but the problem returned.

When it is not responding and I look at the running processes using the task manager I can see that ccsvchst.exe is running and when looking at the control panels security settings it indicates that NIS 2013 is up and running.

This is the fifth version of NIS I have had and read that sometimes it can get too deep into the operating system to remove it leading to an older version blocking the new version.

If it wasn't for one thing I would have thought this is the problem but there is something that indicates this is not the case. The problem started when I still had NIS 2012 and had about 4 weeks of the license period remaining. This was just after installing a new broadband pack from my broadband provider (o2). When installing this a question of which Internet Security package are you using was asked and I selected NIS.

Does anyone know what could have been changed when the broadband pack was installed that keeps stopping NIS from running properly? It starts working again at times and I am thinking the liveupdate has achieved this.

Thanks for any help
