NIS 2013 Firewall cannot be monitored by windows 8

Hi Dave,

Windows Firewall and Windows Defender might be the cause of your problem.

By default when you install Norton Internet Security, during the setup it disables both Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Just NIS will provide to protect your PC.

To be sure you have Windows Firewall and Windows Defender enabled, try to open them both, you should receive a message stating that these applications are managed by NIS and you should not have the access.

If you are able to access the settings for Windows Firewall and Windows Defender, you must disable both.

If Action Center continues to report you the same warnings, check again to redo the procedure that I wrote in my previous message and restart the PC.

I just installed Windows Pro 8 and NIS is working except the Firewall.  I mean I can turn it on but once I do, it does not allow me to have internet access.

Do you have a suggestion on how to fix this issue?  Or the steps you provided in a previous post what I need to do?

Thanks,

Jason

I did not understand very well what you said.

Explain me better in which Firewall you have access, on Windows Firewall or on Firewall included in NIS.

If you have access to Windows Firewall, you must disable it. If you're talking about the NIS firewall, it must be ON.

Please open the Action Centre and tell me what appears in Security please?

I wait for your answer.

Thanks,

Sandro

Well, I went back to Windows 7.

Don't expect me to be back on these forums often. Everything is working fine again.

Windows 8 was a very bad experience and I shouldn't have been an early adopter.

Thank YOU Sandro_cm

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and was using Norton 360 (latest version) I had the same problem.

I followed your instructions and now everything is working great – Thanks again:smileyvery-happy:

Thank you so much Sandro,

Your fix worked for me, my PC's running Win8 Pro 64bit and the latest version of NIS.

I was too cautious to delete the repository folder so I renamed it but followed all the other instructions to the letter.

Best Regards,

Gary

Your fix worked for a while but it's not working now, what's up with that ?

Does anyone have a permanent solution or is it best just to ignore the Windows Action Center warning ?

We can solve the problem uninstalling the windows update KB2756872. :smileywink:

Seems to solve the problem now. All a bit of a mess though.
