NIS 2013 Metro apps intenet connection

I've upgraded to Windows 8.1, and NIS version is 21.1.0.18.

For some reason, Metro apps have no internet connection. Desktop programms can access internet without restrictions.

Everything goes back to normal when I remove NIS.

Is Windows 8.1 not supported yet?

No problems here on 2 machines. Maybe you have picked up a firewall rule that is blocking them?

Nope, clean install, just automatic rules. Uninstalled NIS 2013 once again 5 minutes ago - metro apps are back online!

belowzero273, did you use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool ? This will give you a clean reinstall of your Norton product, if you are running the latest version. Failing that, there is a workaround which may help

The problem actually is with a setting with internet sharing, which makes Metro style internet explorer act in a very restrictive manner. All you have to do is turn off sharing. Following are the steps to do this:

1) Go to the charms menu.
2) click on the settings option.
3) Click on the "Internet access" option.
4) Right click on the active connection.
5) Click on "Turn sharing on or off".
6) Click on "No, don't turn on sharing or connect to devices".

That's all. Your apps will be able to connect to internet now.

I've removed NIS with official tool and did clean install. I works by now, even after several reboots.

Maybe NIS wasn't upgraded properly, so clean install was necessary.

Glad all is working well, again....:smileyhappy:
