NIS 2013 quits running and requires reboots multiple times per day

I am running Norton Internet Security 2013 build 20.4.0.40 on a Windows 7 system.  NIS stops functioning and you can not restart it.  The icon disappears from the System Tray and if in Internet Explorer the Norton bar has a red box and exclamation point which says a restart is required.  Restart the system and everything is fine until the next episode.  This happens multiple times per day.  Yesterday, 3 -4 times.  Today, only 2 times so far.

 

I have used the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool but the issue continues.
