NIS 2013 telling me to uninstall Malwarebytes, why?

I’ve got the free version of Malwarebytes on my system. A few days ago I got an NIS msg that a conflicting program was installed on my system and I should remove it. Why did I get this message since as far as I know the free version of Malwarebytes doesn’t do anything until you run it manually?

Hi:

Any news about a fix for this?

I upgraded to Malwarebytes 1.75.0.1300 (free version without the real time scanner) about 2 weekas ago and after a few days NIS stared to take a dislike to it. I also get the Autofix - unistall Malwarebytes message.

NIS Version 20.3.1.22

HP desktop AMD 64 bit

Windows 7 Home Premium

Thanks

got the same problem started today throwing up free version of malawarebytes as a false positive, was ok prior to today. came up during weekly scan of MBAM ver 1.75 which is fully updated but not pro version.

This is Symantec's way of fighting competition. Ignore the warning,  There is NO conflict.  Trend Micro used to do the same thing, that's why I stopped using their products, and will stop using Norton if the clowns don't cut it out.

Hi Davidsco27

Just like bgc99, I got an error yesterday from NIS2013 telling me to uninstall my copy Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, I found this somewhat surprising especially after both products have been coexisting for well over a year on my PC without any problems.

As you generally advised, I decided to ignore the warning and carry on, I've had no problems before and had no problems since.

You know, Microsoft used to pull a similar stunt when they wanted to you to upgrade their software, I once got an error telling me my copy of Visio was conflicting with something. I looked this up on the Internet and found an IT consultant who, like you, said that this was a trick by MS to get you to upgrade the application.

Finally, the last time I said in this forum that NIS did not conflict with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware another forum member virtually accused me of lying.

Glad to see that I have been vindicated.

I've also used the FREE Malwarebytes for a long time.  I recently reinstalled NIS 2013.  During installation, Norton said it had a "conflict" with Malwarebytes and uninstallled it.  After the NIS install was done, I reinstalled Malwarebytes and haven't seen any message like that since.  Fact is FREE Malwarebytes does not cause a problem for NIS.

Just curous - have you selected Support > Get Support from the main page of NIS yet?  I thought evrything was fine until I ran Get Support after the latest update and now it says MBAM is causing conflicts.  Of course I just ignore it - looks like I'll have to select Skip if I ever really do need to run Get Support and have it work past that point.

Hi yank, I hadn't used "Get Support" since the reinstall.  I tried it just now and the conflict message came up.  Nice to know I have option to skip it.

Hello

I have my nis 2013 set on agresssive, so far still no problem with malwarebyes an nis. They both come up clean and no probs.I usually just run the quick version of malwarebytes.

I have NIS 2013 v20.3.1.22

I've been having major problems - again - with my Identity Safe. (http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Problems-again-logging-into-on-line-Identity-Safe/m-p/952791#M10644)

I forgot to mention in that thread that around the same time I too had the warning message about Malwarebytes so I removed it - for now.

I like my Malwarebytes (free) and I don't like being told by Norton to get rid of it. I'm reinstalling it and will ignore any NIS messages. If NIS continues to try to get me to uninstall it, I will nor renew my NIS.

I was so pleased to find this thread, to see that the warning is nonsense and a cheap shot attempt by Symantec. It will lose them customers imho.

According to me some antivirus didn't work with any other malware bytes. So your antivirus giving message to you for uninstalling malware bytes from your system. If you want to know more about this information you need to make a contact with your " Antivirus Service " team.

Everyone Check out this update from Tony Weiss:

Can I reinstall it and just ignore the warning?

Only you can decide for yourself whether to ignore the warning and reinstall the FREE version of MBAM.

I personally, and many others here, have ignored the warning and have had no issies with the FREE version.
