Hi Guys,
I am a computer technician and I resell NIS 2014 to my customers. About 6 months ago (maybe longer) I noticed customers that I have sold to, and customers that were new to me started to report problems that they could not connect to the internet or file shares etc. even though they had a network connection. Upon further investigation I noticed these customers all had NIS 2014 installed (not the 360 product) but not running correctly. The icon was missing in the system tray, if you double click the icon on the desktop or from the start menu the Norton screen would not appear. The processes were running in task manager but I couldn't get Norton to open. I went to un-install via programs and features, but although listed the removal program would not start. Ultimately I had to use a working PC to download the Norton Removal Tool to remove NIS 2014 where upon the internet and files hares starting working again.
I know this to be Norton problem as it has happened countless times since, at least on 30 occasions and today I had the same problem again on a laptop I sold a customer less than a couple of months ago. Although this is simple to sort out it is getting annoying and costing me time and money as some customers are reluctant to pay up considering they had only purchased the software a few months ago.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is there a fix / known problem by Norton? This is now happening so often I am going to have to look at changing the antivirus product I resell. I cannot sell or recommend a product which appears to keep breaking. This used to happen back at version 2008 or 2009 which is when I stopped reselling last time. As far I can tell, it is only the NIS 2014 product that is affected and I have only seen this problem on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1
Thanks for any help you may have.
