Two days ago I attempted to do the online update of NIS2013 to NIS2014, well this update caused my whole system to be unstable, and I could not even reboot the computer unless I used Safe Mode. In safe mode I was able to restore to a day before the upgrade. I want to now run the Norton Removal/Install tool, and complete a clean install of NIS2014, but I haven't been able to find the location that I can download a complete vesion of NIS2014, not the upgrade. Can anyone here assist me?
I guess this would be considered updating from Version 20 to 21.1 , and I didn't use the Liveupdate to do this upgrade, which maybe I should try that before a complete new install? I origianally went to the upgrade page, and upgraded that route?
I think I'll try what Tony_Weiss indicates above to do a backround upgrade from V20 to 21.1
Note:This update will only occur if the Automatic Download of New Version option is Enabled (Launch main product -> Settings -> Computer -> Updates -> Enable Automatic Download of New Version). If this option is set to OFF, the update will not be downloaded

Well restoring to a previous day before the NIS2014 update totally messed up NIS, now neither NRT or NRnR recognize any norton software installed on this pc.., so I am manually removing norton folders and running Ccleaner, and rebooting, so hopefully I'll get most of the old norton files/keys. I have my NIS2013 disc, should I install that version, and then do an upgrade or is there a full version of 21.1 online somewhere that I can download to install? Would I find the full version in my Norton Manager?
The most recent offline (standalone) installer for NIS can always be downloaded at www.norton.com/latestnis. The latest installer is currently for NIS v. 21.1.0 (2014).
The offline installer for NIS v. 20.4.0 (2013) can be downloaded at www.norton.com/nis20. If you do decide to downgrade back to NIS 20.x, make sure that you disable the option at Settings | Computer | Updates | Automatic Download of New Updates to prevent NIS 20.x from automatically upgrading to NIS 21.x.
EDIT:
Also note that you should always disable the Norton Product Tamper Protection feature in NIS as instructed in the Symantec support article herebefore running a system restore. Be sure to keep a close eye on your Norton Ghost and NU installations just in case they were also damaged during the restore. You might want to consider running another system restore following the instructions in that support article if NPTP was not disabled. I don't think NPTP would be an issue, though, if you also ran your second system restore while in Safe Mode.

Would I find the full version in my Norton Manager?
Thanks,

Hi botayota,
You could go to https://manage.norton.com/ManagementHome, sign into your Norton Management on the system you dsire to install the latest version on and select Add Device and it should download, and install the latest version (v 21.1.0.18). I do not rememebr if it will acitvate it or not (I beleieve it will).
You could also go to www.nortonaccount.com, log in and selerct the Yellow Download Button for current license and it will download, install and activate the most recent copy of your installed product. In your case it would be version 21.1.0.18.
No matter which option you use to install or which version you install, please remember to run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested) until LiveUpdate responds "no updates found".
That's why System Restore should ALWAYS be avoided with real-time AV's, because all the time the installation is destroyed or damaged.
Good luck.
Try to manually delete all the Norton folders & services if you cannot run NRT.
If you are familiar with the registry, delete all Norton Internet Security and Symantec keys but first also uninstall all your other Symantec products and reinstall later.
If you are not familiar with the registry please do NOT touch.
