If you are grappling problem with fastboot of Windows 8/8.1 because it boots in normal mode, and you have 0xC00000D4 error code in Windows Event log then it's probably caused by Norton delayed driver and plugin loading.
Why?
Error code 0xC00000D4 (STATUS_NOT_SAME_DEVICE) means that hardware map during boot is not equat to the state before shutdown. According to v36662094_NIS_Retail_2014 help file Norton by default have turned off driver loading during boot and its loaded after little amount of time after logging into the Windows User accout. To force load drivers at the same time when Windows is booting the Norton "Enable Boot Time Protection" should be triggered to Aggresive mode.
I've tested copule times that theory and it's working for me.
So, what now?
1. Please Norton support, can you verify this theory?
2. If I am right Norton should detect fact that Windows Hybrid boot is enabled to swich Norton pre-loading into Aggresive mode.
