Hello there
Apologies before I start to explain - I'm definitely no expert and NIS 22.5.0.124 is causing me problems!
We updated to NIS 22.5.0.124 on my daughter's laptop (Windows 8.1) and now have scan problems. We let Norton automatically download this new version but couldn't get it to work properly so uninstalled it completely using the Norton Removal Tool and did I a fresh clean install this morning.
Whilst we can do a manual quick scan - which seems to work OK, the manual full system scan is starting Ok it stops responding after a while - about 30 to 40 minutes in. This then causes me to have to force restart the laptop.
I have waited a while and tried again a few times today but with the same result, the scan stops responding and causes the laptop to freeze.
As I have started the full scan more then once today - do you think the scan may be trying to resume and as I started it again - could it be trying to do a full scan several times simultaneously? If that's the case - does anyone know how I might check or stop this.
I've tried looking on task manager - and can see that on occasion the NIS 22.5.0.124 is running at 100% disk usage, but the CPU is low.
Any idea how I can solve this? To be honest I really wish I hadn't let this update to the NIS 22.5.0.124 version. I had no issues running 21.07.0.11.
Any help /advice would be really appreciated, if anyone has time.
Thanks
Shep1
