OK, We all know that 10.6 is more 64 bit then 32 bit now. Is it too much to ask that Symantec finally make the commitment to 64 bit code. I have seen this same "issue" on the Windows side as well. More and more of our servers at work are now running 64 bit and yet Symantec has failed quarter after quarter to produce proper updates to their products to change the operating code to 64 Bit.
Now I sit her with a 64 bit version of Safari and no Norton toolbar. No protection in that browser because Symantec has not made the necessary changes to their code to properly support 64 bit processing. This delay is nothing short of shameful. Yes, I know that not everyone has 64 bit computer systems right now, but that segment is growing, and growing rapidly. I would have long ago expected Symantec to take the lead on this and make the two versions of their security apps. Yes I said two versions.. One for older 32 bit systems and one for 64 bit systems. Consumers and businesses have waited long enough and there is NO excuse for Symantec to have not done this by now.
