NIS 5 for MAC does not update

I have NIS 5 for Mac, I recently reinstalled it because I was not able tp download updates.  After reinstalling it I am still not able to recieve updates so I can't do a full system scan or get the toolbar.  Why is this happening  some expert advice would be very much appericated, Thank You.

Can you please follow the instructions here:

  1. Download the tool from here:ftp://ftp.symantec.com/misc/tools/mactools/GatherSymantecInfo.zip
  2. After download, with the file on the Mac client from which you wish to gather troubleshooting information, double-click on the file to expand it. It will contain the GatherSymantecInfo.command file as well as a folder called SupportFiles.
  3. Double-click on GatherSymantecInfo.command. It will open a Terminal window.
  4. Enter your administrator password (it will not echo on-screen) and press Enter.
  5. On the "Please enter the subscription key..." window, press Enter to bypass this screen. A subscription key does not apply to Symantec enterprise antivirus applications.
  6. Gathering information... will appear.
  7. When completed the Terminal window will advise you that information was gathered and saved to the desktop (SymantecInfo.txt and SymantecInfo.zip, which is simply SymantecInfo.txt in a zip archive). You can then Quit the Terminal application. (See below.)

Please try to attach the SymantecInfo.txt file here on the forums. If it complains that it's too large, contact me privately and I'll send you my e-mail address.

I wondering if you have any information on how to fix my problem?  Also how do I get NIS 5.1 if I get not download updates?

Please see Ryan's request earlier in this thread.  If we don't have information specific to your configuration, it is very difficult to determine where the issue lies.

Thanks,

Lee

I've got your SymantecInfo.txt file, and I will have the LiveUpdate engineers look it over. I am not sure if much progress will be made on it in the next week or two unfortunately; Symantec employees are on vacation for Christmas.

One thing I can suggest: please try running the following command in Terminal:

In the Terminal window, type or copy/paste "sudo rm -rf /var/db/com.symantec"

and press return. When it asks for your password enter it. Then restart your Mac. You may have to re-activate your Mac after performing this process.

Try running LiveUpdate and see if that fixes your problem. If it doesn't we'll have to look more closely at the SymantecInfo.txt file.

I want to thank you for your time and that las suggestion you gave me that did the trick and was able to fix the problem.
