I was having trouble with an old computer running W7 and NAV 2010, so I just purchased a new computer which came loaded with NIS and a 60 day subscription. (I have 370 days remaining on my NAV subscription; long story). Should I:
1. Uninstall NIS and download NAV to use my full subscription
2. Wait until the 60 day trial period on NIS is over, then download NAV
3. Upgrade to NIS
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Old computer but running W7! ok
To advise you we need to know two things.: The licence you have for NAV and whether you intend to continue using your old computer.
You may have a multiple PC licence for NAV or it may be a licence for just one PC. The easist way is to check inside Norton Account or mynorton account (www.mynortonaccount.com) id you are going direct to the web page. Otherwise contact customer services and ask them directly if you have a one PC or 3 PC licence.
If you have a 3 PC licence then you can continue using the licence on the old machine and on the new machine.
If you have a 1 PC licence then you could uninstall from the old m/c and install on the new machine and if you get issues call customer care who will sort out the fact that you have removed and installed on a new pc if you have issues.
The decision is yours, but you might consider continuing to use Norton NIS because it is the superior product to NAV and you might even find it worthwhile buying another NIS even though you would then waste 370 days of NAV.
In all events I would tend to remove NIS on day 59 rather than 60, if you plan to install NAV, and you should first run Norton Removal Tool on the new machine after removing NIS before installing NAV.
YOu should find that the price of an upgrade is no cheaper than buying wisely NIS 2010 or NIS 2009. If you like the feature set in NIS 2010 for example its firewall then you can consider NIS long term.
Goldman's advice is good. Additional info: If you use Comcast, they are now offering a free Symantec NSS (Norton Security System) which is essentially Norton 360 and has most of the behaviors of NIS. It is an excellent program that I have now installed on some user's computers. It keeps a low profile and behaves well.
Also, if you decide to stay with NAV, do install a good stand alone two-way firewall with it. Some very good ones are free versions like Comodo. Windows firewall is not sufficient.
