NIS and Bluetooth settings - I cannot get Bluetooth to work

Hello - let me start by saying that I know just enough about computers to be dangerous.......

A while back my Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth Mouse 5000 just stopped working.  I thought it was a hardware problem, but after spending a few hours on Dell Support (Studio 15 laptop), we realized that the hardware was working fine (BT indicator light was on, BT broadcast was being seen by other devices I owned, BT settings on the computer were correct).  The Tech suggested that it appeared it had something to do with my NIS Settings since everything else seemed to check out.  I should mention that the mouse hooks up fine to my Dell Mini 9 that does not have any security software installed (yet, I just had to install a new HDD so it is only running a clean version of XP).

Does anyoneknow how to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Scottmckay:

I don't have a wireless mouse, but there are a couple of things you can try, til somebody turns up who can shed more light on the matter.

If you open your Norton main screen, go to internet settings and scroll down to program control.  Make certain to add all of the .exe files for your Bluetooth equipment and set them to "Allow"

Go back to the main screen and click on view network security map.  This is the part, I am not sure of.  I don't know if your mouse will show as a networked device.  If it does, click edit, and set it to full trust.

Let us know if anything helps.
