Customer has Vista Biz 32 bit SP1 with all updates. NIS and NSR are current too.
Recently, within the last week, NIS is blocking the NSR 2.0 backups,
NSR give a strange message about \\\?\23145355Fss\ drive containing an OS or a page file. An Error 27 is mentioned.
Have re-formated the backup drive without working, have deleted the partition and recreated without working, finally looked at the NIS log and it said it was blocking access!! Turned off AV and then the firewall without success.
Next step is to uninstall NIS unless someone has any other ideas.

I would try to check the firewall settings. Maybe NIS blockes there something.... Open the NIS Firewall Settings, and go to Program Control, there find the NSR exes on the list, and set the to be Allow.
1. Turn off NIS 2010's Tamper Protection (Main window -> Settings -> Miscellaneous Settings -> Produt Security -> Norton Product Tamper Protection must be OFF, select until next reboot) 2. Open Task Manager (right click on the taskbar, click on Task Manager)
3. On the Processes tab in the list find ccsvchst.exe (there will be two of it)
4. Click on End Process by both This way NIS will be completely off. 5. Run the back-up
Turning off NIS' Tamper didn't work either. So, I deleted NSR and re-installed from a 30 trial download, ran LiveUpdate and now all appears to be well. Very Weird!!
This way NIS was completely off (if you terminated the ccsvchst.exe processes too), so it was something else caused the error, like a bad update in the NSR....

Thanks for all the help.

Good to hear it works again. I hope it will stay this way ;).
