In another thread (http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/MSCONFIG-Start-Menu-access-denied-error/td-p/489648), the last post from a Symantec employee says that NIS has deliberately broken msconfig. Replies seem to be disabled on that thread, so I'm starting a new one.
On the system I'm working on, NIS has allowed malware onto the system which disables NIS. The only way to stop it from coming up during a boot is msconfig. Or, I should say, WAS the only way. And this is a FEATURE? Brilliant.
How do I disable this "feature" so I can get NIS working again (by killing off the malware your product allowed to infect the system)?
