Recently I've been having problems when I close internet explorer 11. After trying several fixes and than posting a crahdump to microsofts it board I've come up with the culprit. It seems NIS is the cause and am hoping Symantec will put out a patch to fix it. I'm pasting the crashdump for reference.
I hope someone can help with this as I rely on norton and wouldn't like going to a different antivirus.

Hai, Tried reinstalling NIS? As the dll files are having issue, I’ld suggest that. Use NRnR or else via control panel. . . Make sure to perform live update and restart after it. . Also try toggling epm (enhanced protection mode) in IE settings.
I'm using IE 11 with NIS 21.2.0.38 and do not have any problems with IE crashing. What operating system are you using and what bit? I'm on windows 7 pro 64 bit.
I tried using the uninstaller mentioned above but will try again but unsure it will help asI've done several clean istall of windows. In fact IE doesn't crash while I'm using it but only gives the error when I close it at random times.
Where do you find the error? Have you checked for any available updates to OS and other softwares? Check in event viewer of Windows for this error entry and post us back that details. … The error Win32 error 0x2 or 0n2 tells “file not found”. Its an error related to windows debugger Windbg loading symbols and symbol tables. A similar error was dealed in here: http://windbg.info/forum/13-crash-dump-analysis-/26-unable-to-load-image-ntoskrnlexe.html
That said, verify if the file and path ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine\ 21.2.0.38\symhtml.dll and C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine\ 21.2.0.38\ccgevt.dll )is valid before and after the error occured. . I request some Symantec employee to join this thread. Only they will effectively deal with debug errors.
. Try ‘Get support’ option from NIS gui and see if it resolves problem. … Even after reinstallation of Windows if the issue reappears means, I suggest you to install NIS from a backup disc or older version(if possible), update it to latest version, then install IE11 from microsoft download center. That may help. ( A not recommended suggestion is to try disabling Norton addons / plugins and toolbar and check if it helps. But as said, its a non-recommended way and not a permanent solution) . Post back…
IE crashes, due to Symhtml.dll, MSHTML.dll, jscript9.dll & cc_Set.dll unloaded, usually occur by a faulty functionning of Norton IE add-ons and/or sometimes other add-ons like Flash at random times.
It can happen when loading complex webpages with many jscripted add-ons.
It has no affect in IE's proper function, as a precaution measure I would recommend a uninstall/reinstall of Norton but even this is not mandatory or will guarantee that the random crashes will go.

Really it's not worth the effort as for me, it only crashes when I close the program and not during browsing.
Ok, I reinstalled windows and all updated, Left out norton and cruised the net. The crashes still occured but a lot less. Put norton back and get the same crashes except more frequently. Whatever the glitch in IE is, norton just make it happen more, BTW I did not include any ie plugins.
