Exact same thing happened with me, had the Norton internet security trail that came with my Toshiba laptop. Asked me to if it could uninstall old Norton internet security, so I said yes, asked for a restart I said yes, BAM no more programs. Then magically internet explorer decides to work so I went to Norton chat support and they give me their Norton Power Eraser, did nothing but waste my time. Went to chat again and asked if there was another solution and they give me Norton Bootable Recovery Tool and did nothing but waste 2 hours of my time. Then I went back and asked for help a third time and they ask me for 99$ to fix a problem their program caused ( a program I had to pay money for to break my stuff) so now Norton can eff themselves
