I keep receiving this error: Norton Internet Security has encountered an error. Error: 3048, 3
It tell me to reboot and I have done this 3 times but I continue to receive this error. Please help!!

Is this a new install or have you been running NIS for a while? Also, which version are you running?
Can you run live update? If so does it say that all updates have been downloaded and installed? If not please continue to run live update until it does.
If you are not running version 19.1.1.3 you really should upgrade. Click on support > new version check.
If you have the latest version and it is still giving you problems you might try the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool found here:

A word of warning before you use it. First, save your identity safe data. Second, it will remove all things Norton but only reinstall NIS. It gets its copy from the Norton server so it will be almost up to date. After rebooting run live update until all of the updates are downloaded and installed. Then you should be good to go.
Just got the same error with NIS version 19.2.0.10. I use NIS for a long time already. Live update works fine and shows that all latest updates installed successfully.
Is it really an error? I don't see any wrong behavior except of this message.
more info, I looked at NIS log and Norton Autofix shows me in additional info that it founds 0 error

Norton autofix tried to fix error withouth success.
I have NIS 2012 v.19.2.0.10 installed on Windows 7 x64 Sp1.
What about this error?
I also had this issue 2 times - always on Sunday morning... No issues in history.
No other issues, all functionalities are working properly. Scanning, removing threads
(I tested on some downloaded EXE with viruses/tojans) - everything is fine.
I really do not understand this :(
