NIS Error 8920, 223

Fired up my computer. Eventually, checked "Recent History"; Norton Web Protection Definitions & Norton Whitelist FAILED. Support reveals ERROR 8920, 223.
Intelligent Updater applied to bring my computer up to current.
Support indicates, check in a couple of hours, and / or wait 24 hours.
Hanging on in there.

Hi,

It happens from time to time and usually it's auto-resolved a few minutes later.

Wait an hour or so, and try again a manual LiveUpdate.

It should work.

The failed updates have come as Auto LU, successfully, down the pipe.

Currently, all is well.

I received this same error after a new installation of NIS 2014 for a client this morning when manually attempting to perform a Live Update after the installation was completed.  Clicking on Fix did auto download the latest virus signature file for today.  But, subsequent attempts at manually executing Live Update still fail with an 8920, 223 error.  I have not encountered this before, but have read comments on this message board where this has been an issue in the past.

For Symantec, this was specifically occuring at around 10-10:30 am CST today.

Kaz. I ran a Manual LU, because my PC hadn't been online for a couple of days. I usually let the Auto LU prevail; unless I've been requested to REBOOT. FYI, Vista 32-bit.

My client called a few hours after I left him and the issue had been resolved.  A manual LIve Update worked.  Question is why is it happening in the first place?  If ths is a Symantec server issue, where is their reducndancy to make it transparrent to their customers?
