Yesterday nis 2011 reported 200 high risk threats on my computer. A norton technician removed all threats 5 days ago so these are new threats. about 5 threats have been removed but to the rest nis says"remove failed". The "recommended action" for all of the failed attempts is "rescan" and if i click "ok" (which presumably means it will rescan that threat) it removes the threat.
Please can someone answer the following points:
1. Why is nis unable to remove these threats first time? Why were they not dealt with when they first got on my computer?
2. when i reported this problem and on a previous occasion, a norton technical has used Norton Power Eraser to remove threats that nis hasnt dealt with. If NPE can deal with them why isnt it included in nis?
3. A technician told me that norton is the best av program of its type and new threats are appearing all the time. is it normal for av programs to have such a low success rate? nis dealt with only 5 out of 200.
I raised these point with the technicians but they were only interested in using remote access to remove the viruses - they were not interested in answering the above points, or in explaining the threat list shown by nis.
