NIS firewall has been blocking AIM for the last 2 weeks

For the last two weeks, the firewall that is part of Norton Internet Secuirty 2010 that was given out free to Comcast customers has been preventing me from logging in to AOL Instant Messenger 6.9.151.

I know the problem is "smart firewall" because of two things, the biggest being that the problem disappears when I disable it to log in.

The other is because I get a pop-up dialog box when trying to log in.

I'm taking some night school courses and have recently learned how to construct ACLs on Cisco routers, as well as the very basics of IPTables, but am unfamiliar with the Norton Firewall. How can I get into the logs to figure out which rule is blocking AIM? I can't find the detailed logs, even though there are several indications that there are some.

Once there, how do I find the correct rule and change it to permit AIM to let me log in again?

I believe that this problem was caused by a "live" update a week or two ago. I've been too busy to mess with it because of a combination of illness and term papers, so it might have been as long as 3 weeks ago. I kept hoping that a subsequent update would fix the rules so they work again.

I have a degree in computer science, and can't find the interface to fix this firewall. I'm finding this embarassnig. Especially since I'm finding fixing rules in the IOS to be easier.
