My system is Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit.
My primary browser is Chrome, but I occasionally use Internet Explorer (9.0.8112.16421). Out of nowhere I found that IE won't connect to the Internet unless I turn off NIS Smart Firewall.
I checked Program Control in NIS settings, and have entries for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer, and they are set to Allow. But despite this, IE won't connect unless I turn NIS Smart Firewall off. This is truly bizarre. I have no problem with Internet connectivity with Chrome or any other application.
NIS version is 20.3.1.22. When it checks for updates, it indicates that it is up to date. I ran the Repair utility, but this didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas??
Windows Vista... lol... :D
Hi DLCPhoto
A few suggestions you might like to try.
Check for windows updates?
Delete your browsing history in IE (see help and support from the start menu).
Uninstall the 32 bit version of IE9 and restart the computer, if you can’t identify in the windows add/remove programme uninstall both versions of IE one at a time restarting after each uninstall. Then reinstall IE9 64 bit and get windows updates for IE.
Remove IE from the firewall programme control it might not be necessary but restart the computer. Then open IE and Norton should put it back into the firewall.

Thanks for the suggestions.
First I removed the IE entries in Firewall Program Control, restarted IE, but no joy.
I then just rebooted, and this fixed it. Looks like NIS put an IE entry back into the Firewall Program Control.
No idea how this 'broke' but now it's fixed.
Thanks!
