NIS- Firewall rules and I.E

Hi guys, i was taking a look at my firewall rules today and i think i accidently changed rule to Outbound only.

If i choose Allow it says the connection is both In/Outbound.

my question is, shall i leave it to just outbound, or set it to In/outbound?

Which rule did you change?

Well, i removed it from, program control by accident, so i added it again, with just an Outbound (Custom) rule. the name was just iexplore.

So right now, iexplore (internet explorer) is only on an Outbound rule, and i cannot remember if it was an in/out.

Sorry if i made that hard to understand.

Hi Joey and Welcome to the Forums!

The default setting for Internet Explorer is "Auto". My default rule shows two instances of Allow, Outbound.

The easiest way to get the default rule back is to remove your custom rule for IE, then OK your way out of the Norton interface.

Then, instead of going back into NIS and trying to create the rule manually, just open Internet Explorer and NIS 2009 should recreate the default rule for you.

Let us know how you do.

Ah, that seems to have worked, thank you very much Phil :D.

You're welcome.

NIS 2009 is a pretty smart program!
