Recently, some customers have received a recurring Symantec Service Framework Error or ccsvchst.exe error with Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus software, version 16.7.2.10. A document was made available shortly afterward, that contains directions to obtain a hotfix for this issue.
We are now distributing this hotfix through LiveUpdate in a controlled manner to customers with NIS/NAV 16.7.2.9 or 16.7.2.10, and Norton 360 3.5.2.9 or 3.5.2.10 installed. If you are running these versions, you should be receiving the update soon. Please be patient, as this is a controlled release and may take a few hours for the update to be available to you.
If you are not running these versions, don’t worry if you don’t get this hotfix - it only applies to the versions above, and only resolves the Framework error issue specific to the updated versions. Once we’ve distributed this fix through LiveUpdate, we will be providing an NEW UPDATE to NIS/NAV 16.7 and N360 3.5 very soon afterward.
Some users might see two folders under their Engine folder until the deployment takes place. This patch will be deployed in a phased manner over the next two weeks. The international versions will be updated towards the end of this deployment. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you, and thank you to the customers who have helped us identify and resolve this issue so quickly. Your help is greatly appreciated.
