According to Tony Weiss, New Builds will come via Norton LiveUpdate.

I was afraid that might be the case. If there is no work around, I will have to move from NIS 2009 to something else. I cannot accomodate large downloads at home. Not at 1.5 to 2 Kbps…

I'm sorry that I wasn't clear. Our major product updates (as well as the latest virus definitions) are also available for download. I apologize for the miscommunication. If you want the latest version of the product, you can download it here: Update Center

Dear Han,

With NIS2008....most users had to visit this forum in order to realise that there was a "new version" (15.06 to 15.15) availble.  I was using NIS2008 version 15.06 and did not know for nearly 3 months that 15.5 is available. (ie:- until Norton toolbar compatiblity with Firefox).

I understand that NIS2009 will be updated via LIVEUPDATE.  This is good, since most users will have it.

Of course, I hope that Symantec will continue posting updates via this forum.

Thank you

Isnt there DSL or Cable in your area?

Perhaps you can download the newer version on a work computer or perhaps that of a friend or neighbor, move to a thumb drive and install at home.

Yes, just not near me... :smileysad:

My concern is that the new version will be posted to LiveUpdate and the download will begin someday without giving me a chance to "pick my time", so to speak. (My PCs are laptops and I can take them to high speed if I know ahead of time...)

Please have a look at the response from Tony. You have several option.

And what if we ask Symantec very very nicely to make a newsgroup or newsletter, where they send us infos about the forthcoming updates, and download links (localized versions too :P).

I have had problems with symantec with regard to newsletters, i.e. Club Symantec, and the Early Notification newsletter/warning; also sent an e-mail to join the Loyalty Program and have heard nothing since.  Is it just me that seems to have these Issues...?
